Two Mansfield organizations that serve needy children are getting a big donation.

Do you remember the muddy shoes that were left behind by participants and spectators during  Tough Mudder events?

Swan Cleaners picked them all up, spent three months cleaning them, and  delivered them to The New Store at the Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center.

Swan Cleaners President Jeff Kent estimates there are 1700 pairs of sneakers.

All were delivered to The New Store to be paired-up by a 20-member youth group from Crossroads Community Church and ten members of Americorps, and some will be sent to Friendly House.

Director Julie Kleshinski says this donation greatly helps The New Store’s mission of providing free clothing to needy children in elementary and middle schools in Richland County.

Jeff Kent says while cleaning all of those shoes cost his business money, he says it’s worth it, and he will do it again if muddy shoes are left behind when Tough Mudder returns to Mansfield.
