On Sunday, June 30, cyclists will gather for what is a whole lot more than just a bike race.
The Jim Finimore Park course has been tweaked and shortened to make for more exciting racing.
There will be mud, a tricky mix of grass, gravel, concrete, barriers and off-camber turns.
Adventurous riders will be able to get some air at the end of “The Freeway,” and all entrants are invited to attempt to ride across the creek (known to some as Hepatitis Creek, due to its smell) without dismounting.
Last year’s winner in Ipswich Brad Nightingale and his brother Darren will be back, vying to be Queensland champion.
This event caters for kids, women and men of all abilities.
Any bike with brakes is welcome (CX bikes/road bikes only in A&B grade).
Hot food, cold beers and cowbells will be on sale and the lone bagpiper will be back with his band. The event is possible thanks to the support of sponsors Exact Radiology, Yellow Jersey Bike Shop and the Yamanto Tavern.
