Coach and leader of the Phuket Born Free to Run running club, Ekkarat “Ricky” Phanthip won first place in his age group and also overall in the recent Hua Hin duathlon event, out of a field of 115 competitors.
Held on Sunday, August 25, the duathlon comprised a 5km run, 40km bike and 10km run.
The Queen’s Cup Hua Hin International Triathlon is held every year in August as part of the celebrations of Her Majesty the Queen’s birthday. The event was also created to fulfil their Majesties commitment to the development of sports in Thailand.
Ricky is a full time coach and trainer at Thanyapura Health and Leisure Club and in his “free” time takes part in suathlon races at international events in Thailand.
He likes to help underprivileged children develop their running skills, and to encourage people to have a healthy lifestyle. The “Born Free to Run” running club is sponsored by the Phuket Community Foundation.
