BaseCamp Climbing Gym in Reno will attempt to break a Guinness World Record Sept. 6 by becoming the “World’s Tallest Artificial Climbing Wall.”

Hotel officials said the 164-foot wall, located on the outside of Whitney Peak Hotel in downtown Reno, will be 27 feet taller than the Lodges at Historic Banning Mills facility in Banning, GA.

BaseCamp said the process will be filmed to document for Guinness editors. In order to claim the distinction, the wall must be measured by surveyors to confirm the height.

The event will take place at 4:30 p.m. Residents are encouraged to attend.
