COOS BAY — A 39-year-old man was seriously injured on Monday in a rock climbing accident at Golden and Silver Falls State Natural Area about 24 miles northeast of Coos Bay, state police said.
The unidentified man was climbing a rock wall near a waterfall when he fell approximately 30 feet to 40 feet to rocky ground below, police said. The man was seriously injured and initially treated by Bay Cities Ambulance paramedics before they transported him a few miles from the park to a field where an air ambulance landed.
The injured man was transported by air to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend in Springfield. His name may be released after confirmation of his condition, police said.
