The Post Falls Police department responded to a medical emergency report around 9:30 p.m. Officers contacted the reporting party, who led them to the area where the woman had fallen. She was discovered a short time later and had fallen about 50 feet to the rocks below, a departmental news release said.
Kootenai County Fire and rescue arrived on the scene and began medical aid. Authorities said the climber had major trauma from the fall and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
PFPD detectives responded and the investigation continues, although authorities said there does not appear to be any foul play.
The deceased climber’s identity was being withheld until relatives were notified.
