DOWNHILL mountainboarding is coming to Badbury Clump, near Faringdon in West Oxfordshire.

The third round of the 2013 UK Downhill Mountainboard series will take place on Saturday, June 16, attracting extreme sports enthusiasts from all over the country to this new and demanding track.

One of the favourites is likely to be Beiran Spelzer-Martlew, who races for the team based at the ATB Extreme Sports Shop at Newcombe Drive in Swindon.

Spelzer-Martlew finished third in the pro category at the opening round in Hampshire.

Among those taking him on will be Matt Brind, who rides a mountainboard in the Nitro Circus Live Tour.

Raphael La Roche, the chairman of ATBA-UK, the national governing body for mountainboarding, said: “This is our first competition in Oxfordshire and the National Trust have been very supportive.

“Having access to places like Badbury Clump for competitions helps us to secure the future for minority sports like mountainboarding.”

Downhill Mountainboarding is popular in the Alps and America, but is relatively new in the UK.
