Saints star David van Zanten will swap his football boots for crampons and an ice axe this week – when he will be on hand to open Scotland’s newest adventure tourism attraction.
Right-back van Zanten, 31, will join Fergus Ewing MSP, the Minister for Energy, Enterprise and Tourism, at the launch of the £2million facility at Snow Factor, Braehead, on Thursday morning.
The pair will also be joined by world-renowned Scottish climber Dave MacLeod to officially open the new ice-climbing wall.
It’s also understood that a special agent ‘007’ will attempt to scale the daunting ice wall too.
The 14-metre high ice-climbing wall, featuring a dramatic ice-overhang, will offer mountain sport enthusiasts and Scotland’s scores of winter climbers alike a safe and fun introduction to the thrill of ice-climbing all-year round.
Also on hand at the launch of the cool attraction will be owner of Snow Factor International Jamie Smith.
