A HERO animal inspector asbseiled down a 200ft cliff to rescue two pregnant sheep stranded on a ledge.
Scottish SPCA worker John McAvoy, 57, sprung into action after a farmer spotted the stricken ewes near Oban, Argyll.
John abseiled down 70ft to save one ewe before CARRYING the other animal to safety.
He completed the daring rescue at Ardbaan, by Gallanach, with colleagues Andy Brown and Claire Shorthose.
John said: “I was lowered down but it was difficult because there are a lot of two-feet high hawthorn bushes.
“I managed to get one sheep in a net and lowered it to Claire at the bottom of the cliff.
“The nets were catching on bushes so I just took the second sheep down myself.”

Both ewes are now safely back with the rest of their flock.
John — one of only a few inspectors trained in cliff rescue — added: “I have done this six times. Every few years sheep get stuck there.”
Grateful farmer Ewan MacLeod, 75, said: “John always gets them out alive, which is quite something with two stuck as the second usually jumps. I’ll fence that area now
